Hey guys,
Keep in mind this is a work in progress. Which means, there’s no heavy editing whatsoever. My goal is to reach 50,000 words by November 30th. Bottom line, it’s about quantity not quality…(NaNoWriMo’s quote). I will be randomly posting excerpts, which may or may not be in sequential order to the previous post. I hope you enjoy, and please continue to leave your feedback. Thanks!

FATIMA
Nydene was the prettiest most chocolate-colored girl Fatima had ever seen. She was no taller than 5’8” and had a lean but muscular physique — similar to that of a swimmer. Her fine hair was black like licorice and shinier than patent leather. It was cut low on one side and in the back, while the other side hung right at her chiseled jaw bone. Her almond-shaped eyes were brown like almond joys, which turned into slits whenever she’d smile and grace the world with her dimples.
She and Ty were good friends. They met each other while stationed in Germany and after being dishonorably discharged, didn’t want to go home to Nyack, New York, so, she opted to move to GA. Fatima didn’t mind nor did she feel threatened by Nydene’s beauty because, though she had the looks, she was also tomboyish, like Ty. And from what she’d witnessed the past few months, two studs don’t mix.
Everything was good. They partied every night. Fatima has always been attracted to and borderline obsessed with New Yorkers. Aside from their high murder rate and muggings on the subway, she believed it would be a supreme place to live. She loved the talent that came from there, i.e., Jay Z., Alicia Keys, Biggie, J-Lo. And Nydene was no exception. She could sing her ass off. Contrary to her rough exterior, the tunes that escaped her lips were melodious like that of the late great Aaliyah. Fatimah stumbled on Nydene’s voice by accident. Since then, she would ask her to sing every chance she got…whenever Nydene was drunk. She was too shy to do so sober.
