My #FlashFiction story: 21 ~ Part THREE #shortstory

To keep my creative, writing juices flowing, I’m choosing to partake in something called “Flash Fiction” writing. According to what I’ve read, it’s been around for many years. Essentially, it’s a short, short story under 2,000 words. However, I’ve also read that that number is fluid. So, anyhoo, together, my story surpasses that 2,000 word limit, but I’m breaking them into pieces to mimic excerpts/sneak peeks. I will not be doing any heavy editing. This is basically for FUN. But I’d still love for you to leave feedback.

Thanks and enjoy!!!

Read PART ONE and TWO.

The DJ was playing some jams, but it was still early. People were filtering in slowly. He played a couple of hustle songs and nobody bothered to get up. Hustles only work when there’s a crowd of folks. By midnight, the floor will be packed with nothing but single ladies dancing to choreographed routines. Brian isn’t much of a dancer, but I’m planning on dragging him on the floor a few times.

“Thanks.” I immediately sipped through the tiny straw so that I could get my night started. “You got another drink?”

“Just a shot.” Brian tilted his head back and let the liquid courage burn his throat. “Ahhhh!”

“Alright now. Don’t be asking me to drive you home.” I shook my head.

“When’s the last time you had to do that?” Brian looked at me with those puppy dog eyes.

I couldn’t even remember when the last time was. But the point is, it happened. And it’s no fun dragging a big ass dude like Brian. Good thing Jeff was there, or else he would’ve been sleeping on his porch ‘til the next day.

“Let’s dance.”  Brian took my hand and led the way before I got a chance to respond. “A’int this yo boy?”

“You know it!” Maxwell’s Fortunate filled the room.

I crisscrossed my arms around his neck. He placed his around my waist. We two-stepped…back and forth… around and round, like we were at an 8th grade dance.

“You know, I’m glad you came right?” He softly shouted in my ear.

“Yup.  You knew I was gon’ come. You my boy.”

I was buzzed, but not nearly where I wanted to be. So, I knew I wasn’t imagining things when I felt Brian’s grip get tighter, bringing me in even closer to his toned body. I like this. He glided his hands up and down my back and used the tip of his nose to trace the outline of my neck.

“Damn you smell good. You always smell good though.”

“Thanks, B. And, you’re drunk.”

He looked down at me.

“No I’m not…yes, I am, just a little…but that don’t mean nothing. You do smell damn good.”

“Be back. I have to use the bathroom.” The DJ went from a slow song to a club one. People flocked to the floor like ants at a picnic.

As usual, the line was ridiculously long and only one stall was working. I always say that the next time there’s a line, I’m going to use the men’s bathroom…but I never do. Moments later, I exited and damn near ran over an innocent bystander leaning against the wall.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” I said as I quickly looked up and stopped toying with my clothes to make sure everything was intact. “Wh…Why are you standing there?”

“I was waiting for you.” Brian gazed at me.

The electricity was firing through our bodies that night. I’m not completely sure what was so different about this particular night, but there was definitely something.

“Aw. That’s so sweet. Ok, let’s go.” I attempted to pass Brian, but he took my hand and interlaced it with his.

“Stop fighting it, Miko. Come home with me?”

The intoxicated face I had witnessed minutes ago was gone. He was dead serious.

“Stop fighting what?” I played it off. “Let’s get back. I’m hungry.” I rubbed my not-so-hungry belly.

“Come home with me.”

I opened my mouth to speak and was greeted with the warmth of his tongue. He pecked and licked my bottom lip…then the top. He definitely had my full attention. My damp panties could attest to that. He had gotten some much needed practice because the one time we kissed in high school was a disaster. He lapped my face like a puppy who missed its owner. When we were done, my face was sticky and tight, and smelled like spit. Then, I told him that’s why it was best we remain best friends. I was not about to have a man who didn’t know how to kiss, especially since it was my specialty. Nor was I interested in teaching him. My philosophy: If a man knows how to dance and kiss, he knows how to work it in the bedroom.

“B, come on. We’ve been through this. We are friends. Period.  Plus, for the last time, you’re drunk.”

He held my chin firmly. “Tell me you didn’t feel nothing just now.”

I didn’t wanna lie to him. “I’m not saying that, but…”

“But…what’s the problem? I know you feeling me like I’m feeling you tonight. So, why not? We’re adults. We’re grown…”

He pecked my forehead, my nose, and the corners of my mouth, sensually. Ooh it feels so good.

“And then what, Brian? I go home with you and then what?”

“We satisfy our curiosity.”

I won’t lie and say that I never thought about having sex with him. I mean, he’s a fine brother and all, but I always looked at him as just a friend. Over the years, he’s has grown into his looks. Now, he’s finer than he’s ever been.

“I don’t wanna ruin our friendship, B. Don’t you like being friends?” I pouted.

“Of course I do.” He kissed my pouted lips. “But I can’t resist it anymore.”

I stood there for what seemed like an eternity, pondering. Fuck it. He’s right.

“Stop bullshittin’.” He grinned.

“I’m serious, but under one condition, nope, two conditions.”

“I’m listening…”

“First thing, when you wake up in the morning and remember this conversation and still feel like you want us to sleep together, then I’ll come over. Once you’re sober.”

“Really? I can’t believe this. You know I want you…been wanting you.”

“Second thing, If we like it, we have to promise not to do it again.”

He wrinkled his nose. “Don’t you mean if we don’t like it?”

“No. I mean what I said. If we keep going back for more, we’ll really mess up our friendship, and I don’t want that.”

“Me neither…so, does that mean you’re not coming home with me tonight?”
